Q&A How do you find topics for the series?
Hello everyone and welcome welcome.
Today I'm covering a question that I tend to ask myself a lot, how do I come up with all the questions for the series?
What you can't see right now is that I have a few pages full of questions ready to have their answers written for the Q&A series.
Sometimes my friends help me out with the questions, they ask me a random question about my business in one of our everyday conversations and then I add it to my list without really thinking about it.
Other times I look to the internet and make some google searches for what questions folks have for small business owners, that's how I got a few of them at the start when I really didn't know where to start at all.
Most recently I sat down at my work station and wrote as many down and as quickly as I could in my one sitting. It was a fun brain exercise as well as a fun writing exercise now as I go though the ones that catch my eye the most on any given day.
I'm trying to fill the most of them as I can while the series is still very young. That way I have aback log for when I eventually get busier with other things.
The first night I sat down and wrote down my own prompts, I came out of it with 50 different questions, a few of them played off of each other or somewhat went together. But 50 was a number that I was alright with.
At some point I will have to sit down again and go through that whole process, by then I know I will have more subjects to write about. Even updates for the questions whose answers will probably have changed by then.
Then there's the reader submissions that I encourage at the end of every post I make here on the blog, hopefully by the time I make another update on this topic I'll have a healthy supply of those as well.
To go deeper into the topic, most of the questions are things that I have been asked through the nearly 5 years of running my own business. Most of them come through experience, 'what made you want to start a business?' 'When did you start your business?' 'What does your business sell?' 'How long have you been in business?'
I hope this helps answer the question of where do all the questions come from. So tell me, what is your favorite question to ask a small business or what is your favorite question to get asked as a small business owner?
