Q&A How often do you research new products?

Hello everyone and welcome welcome. 

Today on the Q&A series we'll be talking about how often I research new products for SewnbySabrina. 

I do this quite a bit and will most often do it in my down time, sometimes by accident. I'll be scrolling on my phone and see something go by and think 'oh that would be cool to try to make' and then I'll end up making a pattern for it later on. 
Sometimes a new product will be because I needed it in my every day life and turns out its something I enjoy making and find fun so I add a few of them to the shop. That was the case with the tote bags. 

Those started because I have a pretty big fabric collection in my storage room and a lot of those fabrics I have never used, so instead of waiting for the ever elusive 'perfect' time and project to come around. I decided to take them out and make them into pieces folks can carry around and share the beautiful prints and patterns. It was also something I made the mock-up/test bag because I needed a new tote bag. 

Another way is my friends will message me and start telling me something about a thing that they saw online. Usually its a small piece, or something useful for their own everyday life. I'll make one for them as a gift, either holiday or birthday and then if I like the process I had in making it, or if I feel like others would also like what I made. I'll make a few more and add them.

I try my best to keep an eye on the trends that are happening right now. Sometimes I can get on them, other times, like right now I'm behind because of my workload. 
I'm in my prepping era right now, prepping product photos and names, blog posts like this one and assembly of the pile of stash fabric I pre-cut for myself a few weeks ago. 

Overall, I'll try and look into new products every chance I get but I won't make everything I look into, or else I would never get a chance to do everything else. I have some bigger projects that I have been looking into for a while now, and hopefully soon I'll be able to put something towards that. But it just depends on how the shop fairs and if I can get it off the ground.
