Q&A What is the hardest thing for you as a small business owner?
Hello everyone and welcome back to the series.
Today's question goes over what is the hardest thing for me as a small business owner when it comes to running SewnbySabrina.
By far this is my social media presence...
I'm historically not the best about keeping things up to date. My posts on platforms like Instagram, and YouTube don't tend to be the best they could be and I know that.
However that is something that I am working on everyday to try and better. My biggest challenge is finding the self confidence to film myself for content when it comes to SewnbySabrina. I get really anxious when the idea of showing my face comes to mind.
I know that I can film in other ways, don't show my face simply talk and show something like my hands or my sewing machine or a product that I'm talking about. That usually brings up the anxious thought, 'is my voice nice enough?'
Which is silly because I like my speaking voice, but I know people on the internet can be cruel and I'm someone that tends to take things to heart too easily. Another thing that I'm trying my best to work on.
I am progress though, right now as I write this I have my phone propped up against a basket, some lo-fi music playing in the background and I'm live streaming to my YouTube channel. It's been going for roughly an hour, I haven't really noticed it since its off to the side and filming my hands while I type.
I don't check the number of viewers or likes since I'm busy writing a lot of posts for the series today.
Its a multi-task that doesn't really require much extra thought after the set up. It's also helping me grow more comfortable with the camera on me.
I want to turn this into my regular habit when I'm working during the day, whether that be with writing or sewing.
I know that the sewing is more marketable for me, I can make ASMR shorts from it and cut up the whole full length video into small segments to have as scheduled posts.
Which is a great way for me to still have content on days when I'm not sewing and can't really film.
In short, the hardest part for me as a small business owner is my social media presence. We live in a world where everything is online and the content that does the best are videos so people can connect a lot easier with people as if we were there in person with each other to share information.
I am aware that it is my biggest struggle, so it's something I can work on and help myself improve at.
I'd love to hear what your biggest struggle as a small business owner is, if you have the same struggle as me when it comes to your social media accounts and pages; I'd love to know what helps you. Is it scheduling posts, filming or taking photos in advance?
If you have a different struggle, let me know too, maybe someone else in the comments has the same issue and we can all try to help each other.
Until next time,
Sabrina
